The Water Project of Utica participated in the Truth in Poverty Tour in partnership with SPLC

The Water Project of Utica was proud to participate in the Southern Poverty Law Center's Truth, Poverty, and Democracy Tour. During the tour's stop in Utica, community members, advocates, and local leaders gathered to discuss the challenges of rural water insecurity and the impact it has on residents' daily lives. Additionally, hot plates and over 400 cases of water were distributed to residents.

By participating in the tour, the Utica Community Water Hub Initiative helped amplify local voices and bring greater attention to the urgent need for water system improvements in rural Mississippi communities. The event fostered meaningful dialogue between residents and stakeholders while highlighting the importance of community-driven solutions, advocacy, and investment in water infrastructure. The discussions and stories shared during the tour laid the foundation for future efforts to address water insecurity and strengthen access to reliable, safe water for all residents of Utica.
